Hi. First time poster.:) I have a new in box Colt 1911 from 1951. Serial number is in the 2503XXC range. It was part of a PD order that was never issued. I am not looking to sell it, just curious what it is worth. It is in the original box, in cosmoline, along with the wax paper. Any idea? Thanks!

Easily $1200+ if in minty condition.
Wish I had the cash for these;

Ha. It actually looks exactly like those. I will try to get some pics up later this week. Sorry guys, she isn't for sale. :)
Couple questions. I am not new to firearms, but everything else I own is a "shooter". I don't want to sound silly, but I want to keep her in mint condition. Would there be any negative impact to her if I removed the cosmoline and kept her nicely oiled with clp? Are there any oils that are preferred for perserving the finish? Thanks for the responses!
