Is it just okay to clean gun with water and soap then oil it later?

Is it just fine that the tritium sight got soaked in water then later in oil?

Thanks.

If water is heated to a boiling point, it may be utilized to clean a gun. The heated metal dries too quickly to cause rust. Adding soap is also useful, however enough hot water must be utilized to assure that all soap is removed. When utilizing the boiling water method, all non-metal parts should be removed.

I only utilize the hot water and soap method on my black powder barrels. I lube the barrels ( with appropriate BP lube) as soon as they are dry. I have no idea what ill effect water and oil may have on night sights. I do not wash or oil night sights.

My detail cleaning system includes throwing all the parts into a pan and spraying the pile with Green Soap, scrubbing and poking as necessary, rinsing with warm water and then drying with paper towels. Next step is to put the dry pile into another pan and spray everything until it is wet with CLP - and leave it soak for a couple of hours before reassembly. Everybody cleans a bit differently, but this works for me.
