Hello,

I hope I don't sound too stupid, but I have a question regarding a Series 80 Lightweight Commander. I have never really given the Commander sized pistols much attention, but I saw (and handled one) at a local gun shop.

It was blued and marked Series 80 on one side and Lightweight Commander on the other. There was a raised area on the top of the slide (not rounded like on my Govt. Models). The cocking serrations slanted forward.

The dealer told me it was an older model. It was kinda beat up, but salvageable. I liked the feel of it. What would be a good price for it?? They were asking $850. I thought this was high due to the condition. Was the dealer right that it is an older model?? Please excuse my ignorance. Thank you.

The currant Blue Book Lists a 60%gun at $450.00, 70% at $475.00, 100% at $875.00 I think it's way too much!

Best of Luck!

Last month i paid the same price for a new xse lt wght commander. I got a good deal as i have been doing business with him for years. In my opinion all the stuff of blue book aside, I would value any lt wght commander in my area that is in good order regardless of finish -not beat up just honest wear, at the 600 range.

I try not to buy series 80 Commanders unless they are something special. Much prefer the older models. But based on my own recent purchases I would agree that a good condition LW Commander as described should be had for around $600. A real nice example for $700 -$800.

It's an "Enhanced" model of the MKIV, it's the last version of the MKIV series of pistols.

What would be a good price for it?? Based upon your description with no pics.....I would say about half of what they are asking.

I agree with Paul, 850 is too much for a Colt in that condition.

+1 850 is too high.
