Went to a silent auction last night and walked away with a nice Series 70 Combat Government for 450 dollars. Its got some rust problems on one side of the gun from sitting in a closet for the past 20 or so years. I'm going to sent it off to Colt for a refinish (these are all blued guns right?) and have them fix the pin that holds the link to the Barrel, as it is loose and has come out twice. Everything else on the gun is great, bore is shiny and clean. Its my first Colt, and I about flipped out when I picked it up for 450!

A nice Pick Up! The original finish is listed as "Blueish Black Metal Finish". If it were mine, that's the finish I would seek!

Best of Luck!

Nice deal. Consider this.....you could get the Royal Blue, the Model O package......and less in it than the overly expensive new TALO offering that does not have the Model O package.

I have been kinda thinking about doing that myself........but must find a good inexpensive candidate first.

Congratulations. Everyone should have at least 1 Colt.

How did you get the negative reversed? The picture caught me off guard-the slide stop pin was on the wrong side, and no safety!!

Pardon my ignorance, but what is the model O package?

Great purchase! I can't believe others in the auction could not outbid you for a nice original Colt like that!

Pardon my ignorance, but what is the model O package?Oh, don't worry. I'm kinda ignorant of the package as well.....but the major things are cut the slide for Novaks, fit a beavertail (like a S&A), and some other stuff that darned if I can remember. I think it includes a slide re-blue. It was something like 355 bucks a while back, but I don't know what it is now.

If you search here or at 1911forum, I think you can find some pics.
