How much fitting is required for a new slide stop?

Or, what should I look for when installing a new slide stop to make sure it is fitted correctly?

The slide stop that I have dropped right in to the link with minimal play, and it seems to correctly hold open the slide when I hand-cycle the action. But before I go out to test fire it, I want to make sure that I haven't missed anything. I'm sure I have, so here I am asking. Are there set tolerances that I need to measure?

Thanks,
Tony

How much fitting is required for a new slide stop? If it can be installed in the gun, holds the slide open when the magazine follower lifts it up and it allows the gun to go to battery - no fitting is required.

It's when it causes problems with these 3 functions that fitting (and maybe some measuring) is required.

Shoot it and see how it works.

Just out of curiosity - what was wrong with the old one?

Nothing wrong with the old one, I just prefer the cut of the new one. My new one has a different profile (more "L" shaped instead of wedge).

FWIW, I normally release the slide by racking the slide, not by using the slide stop, but I like having the option and the new slide stop gives a better grip than the old one.

BTW, thanks, Niemi24s
