Does anyone have grips that actually cover the plunger tube on your 1911? If so where did you order them or who made them? I see lots of grips but none are pictured that actually cover over the plunger tube on a 1911 as they should.

Blame it on extended safeties. The longer grips interfere with them, and since 90% of the marketed 1911s now have them, most grips are already cut to accommodate them.
One of the custom grip makers like the ones linked in the banners at the top of this page should be able to fix you up with a set.

Hogue grips "should" cover the plunger tube. Two pairs cover just about all of it, while the last pair I bought has the grips screw holes drilled a bit too high, so the top of the grip rides a bit too low and only about half the tube is covered. My Navidrex wood and micarta grips cover half the tube.

Check out the calendar pics for the new upcoming calendar. There is a gun there (on a Cobra Carry I beleive) that has a very nice set of grips like you speak of. You could PM him and get the info.

I believe that the sets of Wicked Grips (http://www.wickedgrips.com) that I've seen are designed to cover part of the plunger tube .

Yes Ed,
I think that is the maker of the set I was refering to as well. I know they make some very nice grips.

Ryan ( sarge43 ) at The Finer Grain and Sarge's Grips (http://shop.thefinergrain.com/) makes grips that are designed to cover part of the plunger tube too if I am not mistaken .

Ahrends grips cover the plunger tube. You can get them factory direct or through Brownells.

I think I read that Larry Davidson will machine up some that cover the plunger tube also. IIRC he even made a set of thin contour with a swell up high to accommodate a request for thin grips that support the plunger tube.
