Congrats on your new CD 1911 my_bigmike! $450 is a great price and what's even better is that it is stainless steel, not chrome!
You should be ok with the factory mags after a little break-in shooting. If you are still having problems the next time you shoot, let us know and we can take a look at it for you.

Congrats on your new CD 1911.
As for upgrades, what are you looking for? My stainless EFS, all I changed was the grips, everything else was great the way it came.
Enjoy, and let us know how it shoots for you.

Personally, I would not "upgrade" it at all - Doesn't need it.
They are great shooters as is, and I'd spend the money on a good holster and ammo rather than unnecessary "improvements".

Dollar for dollar I dont think you can find a better pistol. The only thing I did to mine was change the grips to a more aggressive ZV. My trigger was fine a 4 lbs.
I went to a tactical pistol course and shot with all the high end guys and not a single problem and i watched the high dollar guys working on theirs or getting other guns out because of problems.

A lot of CD owners seem to have that experience - we tend to irritate some guys who paid 3 times as much ....
But we get to smile all the way home.
I think you are right about the best value for the money, and I think you can spend a lot more and get less.....
