Very nice grips triehl27 ! I really like the idea of solid brass grips , how much do they weigh in comparison to the wood grips ? I've been looking into getting a set of grips made that would add some weight to our Kimber Rimfire Super .

The Solid Brass grips are really heavy, and quite a bit thicker then 1/4 standard. At least 8-9 oz ea panel. I think they were one of the highest costing ones, at $21.50. They were not what I expected either, when I bid on um they looked to have a deep blue color, but in the end I matched the ad pics and the real things and it was a bad pic that was discolored not a switch. They do turn .45acp into a minor push for recoil. Course you add almost 20oz to any .45 and you'll notice a difference.
the first four wood ones ran between $7, $9, $9, $12.50
the Laminate and Corian were in the $12 range ea
the Abalone and pearl were $.99 still don't know how ebayers overlooked um
And the Slim Carbon fiber grips were $49.99
So total in grips, with shipping is right under $120, all in the last couple months. With the 4 top wood ones coming from one seller, and the others coming from various sellers.
Ebay takes patience and persistance and as much as I hate to admit to it, last minute sniping of auctions. The Abalone and Pearl deal I have been shopping for for almost 11 months and have seen at least 4 other pair of them sell for over $100 ea, one going to $211.
Patience pays off. I have also gotten some junk from grip dealers on Ebay. Sent back at least 3 sets of grips over that last year and slmost sent back the Corian grips cause they were not very well finished and very rough. But I finished um myself.
Overall there is one seller that sells a ton of grips on ebay, pretty much the most frequent 1911 grip ebayer, and I have not been terribly impressed with their grips as I have had 5 and only kept 2 sets of the 5. rest were mismatched, bad cuts, ill fitting, or 2 different woods 1 type in each panel.
the top 4 are better quality then a $129 custom pair I bought. How the seller puts out that quality at -$20 a pair I don't know, excellent finish, excellent workmanship, perfectly matched panels.
There are definetly deals to be found

Do you remember who made the Solid Brass grips ? They sound like they'd be ideal .

I have no idea who made them originally, as they were lightly used when I got them, the seller advertised them that he had bought them at a shop in Mexico several years before, where they were hand made. They are definitely hand made as I can see the imperfections which make them unique.
Other then that i have no idea
