I've not used those, but have used the magwell by S&A. Those tend to have the pin holes off a bit.
I just started using Ed Browns Maxi-well. Its a 2 piece design, and blends very well.
Now you are telling me? After I've managed to **ck my frame trying to install one? Oh well, no big deal, my frame is a litttle shorter now, maybe by .5 mm. Still works great though, but that stupid magwell leaves a small gap between itself and the frame. A hair can pass and light can pass, but it doesn't affect functioning.
Maybe a two piece design could eliminate that issue?

Best way to explain the triggers is to send you looking at pictures. Here's a classic M1911A1 from our home page

That's a short trigger. There's very little of it outside the frame.
Then take a look at this Springfield 1911

That's a long trigger. You can see that it extends farther into the trigger guard opening.
The difference is largely a matter of preference. People with very small hands might do better with a short trigger. I find the short trigger to be too short -- unless I try hard, I over-reach and end up with the second joint on the trigger instead of the first joint/pad of the finger.

Thanks Hawkmoon
That pic lesson was a big help. My SA GI has the short trigger and I have the same problem as you. I saw on this sight a square front trigger on a 1911 buildup and I want to know where I can find one

I have an under the grip magwell that I got from John Masen. I had to relieve the grip panels in order for them to fit flush over the metal tab that goes over the bushing. The only problem I have with them is that if I want to remove the MSH I have to take off the grips then the take out the bushings to get the magwell off then I can take off the MSH. After some polishing and fitting it doesn't look too bad. I still want to get the maxi-well
or the s&a MSH/magwell combo. Definitely helps though.

Wchaka...I just ordered a Les Baer Custom Carry, and was having thoughts about having them put an S & A on it, or just order an Ed Brown Maxi-well. A couple of questions, however, since I really like the looks of the Ed Brown 2-piece. Do you think the blending would be better if I had Baer fit the S & A at their shop when they build the gun, or could I just order the Ed Brown and drop it in with as good a fit? The mag well of the Baers is tapered from the factory.

I have a Kimber TLE and I put on the Wilson Combat magwell (the one that does NOT include the mainspring housing). It's the simple magwell that hooks on to the two grip screw housings.
It fit perfectly flush with the bottom of the weapon and looks amazing. I didn't have to do anything to the grips, either. It was so simple to install, I thought I did something wrong.
And it ran only about $30 at a local gun store.

oldCop, that depends on you & the gun.
Sometimes the mag well will be a bit larger than the stock opening of the frames mag well. If it is, then just putting on the mag well isn't going to be a good fix, as the mag can still hang up on the small edges that protrude into the mag funnel you've just installed.
So without looking at the fit, I really cant say. If you feel that you can do that after you get the gun back, then have at it. If the gun is blued, you'll have to touch up the mag well area on the frame.
If you don't feel that you can do it, then I would have it installed there and ask them to blend it in with the new mag well funnel.
If you like Browns that much, then I would ask them to install the Brown well on it.

Good point, wichaka...I have plenty of time to decide..it will be a stainless frame, and won't be much of a problem to blend if the Baer well is not flared quite enough...thx
