Anyone have any experience with the Briley barrel bushings with the Titanium Nitride coated rings? Seems like a clever idea, but could easily just be another fancy idea that performs like an oem part for 3x the price.

And if it is the real deal, how many rounds can be expected from one of the coated rings before replacing? Seems important as well since they are 20 bucks ea.

I have/had at least six guns with the spherical bushings and to be honest other than the ones (S&W) that came with them I'd stick to a good stock bushing. The sphericals can be a real pain when it comes time to clean and as far as accuracy goes I have noticed no difference between them and a good EGW or Brown match bushing. As far as replacing the ring, one of my S&W's is still going strong after 8,000+ rounds, no wear shows and the gun is as accurate as day 1. To me there like a FLGR in other words a solution to a non problem!

Maybe it's an answer looking for a problem?

I have 4 Brileys with the spherical bushings and I like them. They are not a problem when it comes time to clean your gun. I have quite a few rounds through one pistol in particular and there is no sign of wear. The bushings do fit rather snugly to the barrel and seem to keep things in line quite well. I have seen other reviews, on other sites, and most are quite positive. Like anything else, you will have people on both sides of the fence, on any issue. For me, I'm going to keep using them. If Claudio likes 'em, they must be a pretty good idea.

Like AccuRails I think of them as a special purpose application in the 1911 - mostly a solution to a problem I don't have - and to be avoided as unnecessary complication on a fighting gun. For home fitting an EGW made to order angle bore is likely a better way to go.

On the other hand, and this is disputed because of the abrupt step on some barrels, I find them a very useful idea for the Service Ace (where angle bore is not an issue) - following a suggestion from Bill Caldwell.

I don't own them, but have heard a lot of positive things about them over the years in terms of improved accuracy.
On the down side, I understand that they are a tad fragile and not very dirt friendly and therefore are not recommended on carry pistols.

The only bushing that I ever broke. I've seen two other that broke. When they break, they lock up the pistol. If you want an after market bushing get a King's or EGW.
