Hello, i really had a hard time deciding where this thread should be posted, so i apologize if it does not belong here but i wanted to know if anyone had any experience with these under barrel light rails that attach at the trigger guard:

http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n144/jakew129/1911a1ghostjpg.jpg

they are offered at "Cheaper Than Dirt (http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/49511-1.html) " for $53.28

So are they good or bad?

I really dont think i want to buy the rail from Novak because it requires three holes to be drilled into the frame, and this is easy to remove...any actual knowledge of these would be much appreciated

also what rail does it use, weaver, 1913 picatanny?

I don't have any information on the one you refer to but the site is doing a review of the TICK Rail Mount right now .

I just installed one of the drill and tap Caspian rails on my Kimber coupled with a Surefire tac light. You ask me it's the only way to go. It's slim, light and strong. That bulky monster sold by CTD looks just that....cheap. Its as ugly as it is bulky. My pop took one look at my setup and had me order one for him from Midway.

Cheap and bolt on......Two wrongs.....well you know the rest.

the reason i am looking at this is because i dont think i want the light rail to be a permanent option, and i dont feel comfortable drilling holes into my frame...but thank you

anyone have any experience with this or another variation that isnt permanent

As Money Tree posted, we have a TICK rail under evaluation right now. So far I like it, but before writing it up I feel I should try to shoot 100 or so rounds through the pistol with a light hung off it, just to see if it stays tight.

Check out Dawson's rails. They were the standard for a long time.
