If you had a choice between a precision fit bushing versus a bull barrel, which would you choose and why?
Besides weight, what are some of the disadvantages of a bull barrel? Are there some reliability issues with them?

In anything but a compact gun having a barrel length less than 4.2" they are illegal in IDPA which is what I shoot.

I am a firm believer of the bushing. Why? If after thousands of rounds the barrel/bushing interface becomes sloppy, you can always change the bushing and get back your lost accuracy. If you have a bull barrel, you have to replace either the slide or the barrel. A bushing costs $20.

Ahhh. I see what you're saying. makes sense.
I was leaning towards the bushing anyway...Doesn't a good bushing/barrel/slide fit just as good as a bull barrel/slide fit?

Both can be set up nicely or sloppily. It doesn't make any difference. It all depends on the knowledge of the gunsmith who fit the gun together.
