I recently changed my trigger in my springfield loaded due to abnormal wear on the sides of the trigger. I replaced it with a Caspian Trik trigger. Then I lapped and polished the area where the sear rides. I also replaced the sear spring due to a broken hammer strut that damaged my sear spring beyond repair. My problem is that now my triger pull is around 2.5 - 3 pounds. What is the best way to increase the trigger pull to 4-4.5 lbs. Will just adjusting the sear spring accomplish this?

Yes, bending the sear springs center and left legs will increase trigger pull weight.

Did you leave the ILS intact? Or did you replace the main spring?

You may have changed the angle on the sear enough to allow for the sear to come out of the hammer hooks too easy.

The ILS is intact. I don't believe that I need to change this. The lapping was done with 6000 grit water stone and polishing was done with a slurry of cigarette ash and CLP, the edges are sharp and flat. When viewing with a 10X glass everything looks crisp, clean and smooth.

What did you use to check the pull weight?

If you slightly, and I do mean slightly........bend the both center and left legs of the sear spring forward, you will increase the pull weight. Just be careful you don't snap off the legs of the spring.......I would keep both of those legs somewhat even.

I used the water in a bottle method and then weighed the bottle and string. Three tries on a calibrated scale and then used the average (it was +/- about < 3-5 oz on average ).

I'll try adjusting the sear spring till I meet my trigger pull weight.

Thanks for the info.

Wow! How refreshing. Most complaints about trigger pull is that it is too heavy. You are the second person this week who wants to increase the trigger pull. Wisdom is contagious.
