9mm barrel in a 38 super?

Which 9mm barrel would be a good choice to put in a 38 super Rock Island?

Depending on what you want the gun for, you can start from a cheap, $50 Sarco barrel and move up to whatever you can afford.

I don't think a Sarco barrel will work. I used an Armscor .38 Super slide and a Sarco 9mm barrel to convert an RIA .45 to 9mm, but it is my understanding that Armscor/RIA .38 Supers have ramped barrels. If your pistol has a ramped barrel, Sarco doesn't have anything that will fit. Theirs are all non-ramped.

The guys at Advanced Tactical told me that Armscor's ramped barrels use a "Clark/Para-Ordnance" pattern, so click on the Brownells box in the sponsor panel and start looking at barrel offerings. I'd suggest starting with Storm Lake as a reasonable mix of quality vs. price.

You could also call Ivan and Ray at Advanced Tactical and ask if they might happen to have any 9mm Armscor barrels in stock.

Rio didn't mention anything about a ramped barrel in his review of the RIA .38 Super. So, I assume it comes with a standard barrel.

Okay, then the choices start (as John wrote) with a Sarco 9mm barrel for around $50, and go from there up to around $300 if you want a really top-shelf barrel.

Ray doesn't have any 9mm barrels, there is no RIA pistol (yet) in 9mm Para.
