I have a Kimber Stainless Target (Series I). Is the Ed Brown mainspring housing/maxi-mag well combo a true "drop-in" for this gun, or is there "fitting" that will be needed?

Or do I just buy it and find out when I try it?

Thanks.

While one would presume it to be a drop in part, fitting always needs to be considered, in the case of a MSH the horns could affect the grip safety by not allowing it to come out far enough to block the trigger and may (they often do) need to be fitted. This can be a big problem IF it where a Series II, due to the push rod not allowing the slide to be removed. But IT'S a Series I.

I put one on my Pro Carry HD (same frame). I don't remember it requiring any fitting. At most the grip safety needed to be releived where the MSH stops its travel.

If yours still has the firing pin safety be sure to releive the GS enough so that the pin that disengages the firing pin safety drops flush with the top of the slide when the GS is released. If you don't the slide won't come off/ go on.

OK, thanks guys. As I understand it, it should "drop-in" a Kimber Series I, and the grip safety may need to be relieved a bit if the gun is a Series II.

Situation would be the same for the S & W 1911 as the Kimber Series II?

What about the Colt Series 80 with the trigger actuated FPS?
