I have a compact project in the works. I read somewhere here that often fitting the slide to the frame requires some work at the back of the frame to match the slide. What I have is an Armscor SS frame and a Rock Island Tactical slide here is a pic of how they fit together with the recoil spring in place...

Is this about right or is it excessive??

Gentlemen, start you're engines...er grinders ya that's it. Yes the key is the thumb safety as it appears to line up. Different manufactures have adopted different profiles at the back, some quite vertical and others with more of a curve. This is aesthetics and can wait until all fitting and even firing has proven out. Then a final blending and refinish, man is this stuff fun....when you're done and looking back.

i wouldnt do anything there until i had the firing and safety mechanisms working properly. grinding off is easy, grinding ON is a trick nobody knows. or maybe nobodys told me how.

+1 on the above. Finish up the gun, test it, test it again, fire it, fire it again, and when you are satisfied that it works as it should, then fix cosmetic issues.
