View Full Version : Esmeralda Grips on a Premier II?

I’m thinking of adding a set of Esmeralda grips to my Premier II but am a bit worried about the width.

I have a set of Wicked grips now, that while beautiful, are considerably thicker (left to right) than standard 1911 panels. They are so wide, that I find I need an arched mainspring housing to properly hold the gun.

Can anyone with experience with the standard and slim Esmeralda grips comment on their thickness in relation to standard and the slim TRS grips?

Lastly, do the standard cut grips come down low enough to meet a magwell? I realize Esmeralda has magwell fit grips, but I saw a pair of standard grips that I really like, but want to pair them with a S&A magwell.

Thanks!

Esmeralda's standard size stocks are about the thickness of a standard set of Colt's, about double the thickness of the slims on the TRS. I have no experience with her slim models. The martial cut stocks wouldn't look correct to me with a mag-well, call her and she will make you a set of flat-bottoms in the style you want in about 2 weeks or less.

She made me this set within 2 weeks.

I have a set of regular Esmarelda grips on my Kimber. They are thick but, fit perfect. They do feel a little thicker than stock. I have been considering the
slim grips that she makes but, no experience with them. I chose the grips without checkering as you lose the beauty of the wood when you checker it. One thing I have found is that if you are set on a pair of grips be sure to call her and make sure they are available. They only update the website occasionally. You can also ask her when they are going to upload a new set of grips so you have a better chance of getting first pick.

These are standard Esmeralda magwell grips on my Custom Carry. They feel perfect, and I think they look pretty darned snappy, too.

I have bought a number of grips from her and they are all within a mil. of the factory grips.

Three examples are my Colt SCG:

Thanks, they're not on a gun anymore. I went with more cocobolo instead and those sit in a box awaiting whatever.
