I just inherited a 10mm AO, it's nice as can be, I don't think more than a few hundred rounds have been fired out of it. I'm having a problem though. It has a hard time chanbering rounds, when I pull the slide back I must release it completely to get the round to chamber, and I can feel with my grip hand the round "sticking." Anyone have any ideas? The magazines are not from AO, they stick out of the bottom about 1/2 inch (12.7mm). I think this is the problem, but I'm not sure. I have not taken it to the range yet. I am also wondering where to get 10mm ammo, the cheapest I can find is about $0.65 per round. Thanks for your time

Well, that's the way you should do it. Release it completely, you do not want to "guide" the slide forward, that takes away some of its speed and the slide needs all its speed to load the round. Now if you hear a "ka-chunk" as the round is loading, tell us what mags you are using. How are their lips formed? Are they of the wad-cutter variety? If so, try to find some mags with either the hybrid lips or the original GI lips.

Thanks for the information, I am using wilson combat 9 round magazines, I am not familiar with magazine lip formations, but I am going to get new magazines, so I'll definitely do my research, I have been able to figure out in this forum the original colt magazines work well, and i'm assuming they have the original GI lips. Thanks for the ammo website too, that is cheap as can be!

Please post some pictures of your AO 10mm. Also, if you have any information on when it was made/purchased I would be interested. I recently picked up a 10mm AO at a gun show, but there seems to be little information about them available.

flyingfish, I will post pics tonight if I have time, i completely agree about the information though, I tried to get a hold of the company now through www.tommygunner.com and I still don't have a response after 2 weeks. I've been trying to get info on clips, the best i can find is http://www.bren-ten.com/agtman/id7.html I'm new to pistols too, which really agitates everything, I'm used to black powders, m44 rifles, ak47's (which are really easy to clean) and such, so cleaning was nothing...until now. I'm thinking my chambering problem might be due to a lube issue, I can't get the slide off without the proper tool to turn that thing on the front (vague I know). Anyways gotta go.

WSMITH- The 10 is one of my favorite rounds but out of a revolver. I load all my own and an auto will not hold up to a steady diet of them. Have never even held a AO 10 so I guess I can't be much help, but a spring check might be in order. Just a thought. Ammo is really getting up there to say the least. Reloading is just the only way to go if you want to shoot a lot these days. I see now where they have decided they are not going to get all the guns so they are going after the ammo. Enough said on that but You have a nice one. :) CONGRATS!!

I agree with you tusker on the price of ammo, I was wrong about local prices, the cheapest after taxes is around .90, and nothing but hollow points are availabe, but cheaper than dirt has 1000 remington umc for 260 shipped, so I'm going to go with that if I keep this thing.
-tusker, what is the spring tension supposed to be? and that's a good point about autos handling 10mm, would it be possible to put a stiff spring in it so that it can handle more rounds, or am I stuck changing springs?
-flyingfish, here is a link to a picture http://i472.photobucket.com/albums/rr87/worlocksmith/P1010926.jpg my camera only takes crazy intense pictures so they won't upload to the forum.

WSMITH- I can be trial and error in many cases. You need to figure out which one is installed and go from there. A buffer would help IMHO as well. My load as well as original 10MM loads will beat a gun to death if used on a steady basis. Unless some work is done. Too stiff of a spring and you will have eject problems. Of course a light spring allows battering which spells a short life. The 10 seems to be in the same boat as the 41 mag. PC forced the hiring of people who just can not control a full house ten. I really Love it out of my mdl 610 5" gun of which I was lucky enough to have a pair of, but have sold one to a good ole Texas boy who should pick it up the end of this month. They really got hit hard down there and need our prayers for sure. I also have a couple Rugers in the 10MM/38-40 combo-- Wasn't sure I should post photos here though, after reading all the rules. I sure don't want to step on any toes. :) I like it here. :D
I hope this isn't out of line, I took the liberty of posting a photo of W-SMITH's fine AO 10 MM
