Here's an issue I'm hoping someone here may have encountered before; the red front sight optic on my new RIA 1911 MATCH popped out from recoil during a range session this morning. The front sight optic is simply a fiber optic rod held in place by friction.
Fortunately I found it lying on the deck nearby. I easily slid it back into place, but now I'm wondering how to insure it doesn't pop out again under the same circumstances ? Is there something that holds this rod in place, maybe some kind of a flat spring ? I was thinking of using a drop of super glue [ on the muzzle end of the optic] to keep it in place, but then it would be in there permanently.
What would YOU do to insure against the front sight optic rod from freely popping out again ?
And where would I find replacement optic rods[ red or green] should I ultimately lose this one ? Is there some kind of a front sight repladement kit available ?
