Hello Everyone,

Trying to be pro-active and have all my ducks in an order when I receive my new handgun.

On the Colt 05070X Stainless Steel Gold Cup Trophy, it has listed as:

1) Rear Sight: Champion
A) Champion is the same size slide cuts as a Bo-mar?
B) What are the dimensions of this cut? 60 degree x .359?

2) Front Sight: Dovetail
A) What are the dimensions of this cut in the slide? 65 degree X .330 dovetail ?

Reason I am asking is, I would like to purchase some, Adjustable Trijicon Sights, Green for all three lamps, and the Combat style ( rounded edges ) on the rear sight blade.

As far as drifting, do you need to gently heat the slide when using a flat punch to remove the factory sights and installing the new ones?

Thank you,
Monnie

The front is a non-standard dovetail, I think it may be .350... and it is further forward than a standard novak cut.

Anyway, Trijicon does make a front sight for it, I can get you the number in the morning, but it is the one listed for "enhanced".

Not sure what the bomar cut dovetail specs are, I've always heard it referred to as BCMS.

DuckRyder,

Thank you for the quick response.

So you are saying Trijicon makes a direct replacement front sight for the same cut in the slide? I would appreciate it very much if you locate that part number. I found this at Trijicon's Site. Only problem is, that was a "Set" that included the fixed rear sight
CA22 Colt Enhanced Gov’t Defender, 3 Dot front and rear night sight set
CA23 Colt Enhanced Officers/Combat Commander, 3 Dot front and rear night sight set

For the rear sight, does Trijicon make adjustable rear sights for this style slide cut?
Does Trijicon make just a rear sight blade in the combat style(rounded edges) without having to remove/replace the sight completely?

What about drifting to remove and replace the front dovetail and the rear sight. Do you slightly heat the slide or just use mechanical force with a flat punch?

Thank you,
Monnie

I will get the number in the morning, I'll have to get into the spare parts to get it. I recall that it was simply one of the set numbers with an "F" suffix.

I can't help with the back or the actual installation because I used it on a XSE commander and I had the front installed by a smith (because I didn't want to damage an expensive sight), and I used a standard Novak tritium bar rear on it. I had a stainless gold cup for a while though, and it was the same front sight.

As far as I know three companies make a sight for the front dovetail, Trijicon, Champion and XS.

I found Champion responsive to questions and they might well sell you a rear blade only for your existing sight.

I don't know if you are looking to keep the adjustable but John Harrison also makes a fixed rear for the bomar cut. I am pretty sure Brownells is carrying them too.

Also, I recall that this has been discussed in the Colt forum but wasn't immediately able to locate it in a search, you might have better luck.

DuckRyder,

Thank you again.

Yes, I do want to keep the rear sight in an adjustable platform. Upon looking at Champion's site, yes, the rear slide cut is a BMCS Cut. Also I found this at Champion's site.
Tritium Front Sight with Contoured Base (http://www.championgunsights.com/proddetail.asp?prod=Tritium%5Fblade%5Fcontoured)
Ranging in sizes from .150" to .250" in height
Model 860-095 Adjustable Night Sight (http://www.championgunsights.com/proddetail.asp?prod=860%2D095) Only problem I see here is, man, are the lamps small looking in the picture compared to the Trijicon ones. Says " 0.076" Trijicon®" Guess I will call Trijicon and see if that is the same size they use. I would like to use the Trijicon® Company because they have the longest warranty of 12 years.

My goal is:
1) Trijicon green on both the front and rear.
2) Combat shaped blade on the rear( so it does not poke into my flank )
3) Keep the rear sight as adjustable
4) Keep the silde OEM and retain the OEM sights so I have all original parts if need to restore weapon back to OEM

Thank you,
Monnie

Mine is a CA23 "Front Only". Perhaps special order?

Champion told me that they did not have the Colt sights on the website but did have them. Looking at the website photograph, the front overhang is much too long.

Best of luck with this...
