I was off to a local stores grand opening and took my Walther P22 for a possible trade in. I purchased the P22 a couple years ago and test fired it a few times. I never warmed up to it and thought about selling it or trading it. I left it out in the car just in case I needed a few extra bucks to close a deal. Thats when I saw a Colt Officers series 80 with a royal blue finish behind the counter sitting on it's box with all the paper work. I asked how much and he said today $599.00. I asked to see it and it looked brand new and tight as [heck], It was perfect. I asked him if he was willing to take a trade in. He asked me what I had and said go get it. I went out to my car brought back my P22 and he gave me almost $200 towards the purchase of the Colt. After the trade in and tax I walked out with the Colt for $435.00.

Boy, that sure has my interest piqued. What does the box end flap say....sorry to be so nosy, it's just that the only other Officers that have royal blue finish have been limited runs and so marked.......like this.....

I have seen your pistol before and that is a special run pistol, were I think mine is merely a option. From what I understand the royal blue finish was merely a custom shop option and was requested or ordered. I have also read that Colt gave royal blue treatments to some leaving the factory to standard Officer ACP models. The box flap is a little funky as the finish is crossed out and some numbers written along side of it. I can't tell if it's a date or not. The serial number has me wondering when it was made LFA26XX. I am not to sure how to determine the serial number. Colt wants 100 for the history of my pistol and I rather just buy ammo. The barrel is extremely tight and so it the slide to the frame. There are no marks on the breach face and the bore is perfect. I suspect that the previous owner either had it sent in to have it done or ordered it that way. It's the tightest Officers ACP I have ever felt and was amazed on how tight it really was.
Everything has the Royal Blue treatment. From the bottom of the magazine to the end of the extractor. Every part has the Royal Blue finish. It's absoulty stunning to see in person.

I am not to sure how to determine the serial number.
Call Colt, they will tell you over the phone when it was made, 1-800-962-2658. My guess is it's a 1985 production.

That is just about the most beautiful Officer's I have ever seen. I believe I'll have to have mine refinished in royal blue. Great find and I believe a great deal. I would have jumped on it trade or not.
