I recently purchased this from forum member Clughog and I had to show it off. It is a Colt Officer's Model made in 1985. The pistol is beautiful and still new in the box. Creighton is a great guy and a pleasure to deal with. It is so nice to do business with a forum member who knows his Colt's and is a dealer also. Thanks Creighton.

The first picture is the way I received it and the second is after I oiled it and put some ivory grips on it. Unfortunately my photographic skills are awful because the picture of it with the ivories don't do it justice.

Nice purchase! When will you make this 23 year old virgin Colt a shooter?

I like better without Ivory!

It's so pretty Dave I almost hate to shoot it....but I'm sure I will :)

Hill, I know you don't care for ivory but that picture is awful. This pair of ivory grips are beautiful. They are not as white as they appear in the picture. They have a lot of yellowish grain in them like the picture below. They contrast beautifully with the pistol finish.

Landman,

I don't dislike ivory grips - I just like Colt medallion grips better.

Landman my friend, you didn't just oil the pistol, you soaked it! Go easy with the oil, unless you live on a boat so much oil is not good for your gun (and your clothes).

Lovely little pistol you got there.

John,

That picture looks like I dunked it in oil but I actually just wiped it down with a rag that had a few drops of CLP on it. The lighting in the photograph seemed to magnify the oil on it. I promise I didn't soak it in oil....I'm just a poor photographer :)

Thanks for the compliment, it is a lovely pistol.

So now what happens to your New Agent? This means that you just can't reconcile a pistol without sights, and have fallen back into a more familiar modus?

The Portland, OR zoo has a newborn elephant that's in the news a lot because it's mommie is rejecting it. Sounds like it'll be touch and go with his survival to grow up to be able to contribute to the "Tusks for Texans" campaign :D

I think it's good to give the parkerized (or whatever it is) finish a good soak of oil. On mine it makes any marks disapear and re-darkens the color to a rich black lustre. I would, generally, let them soak a while then wipe them down before any photo attempt.

Wait! What am I thinking? That's NOT oil on your pistol, is it?

It's perspiration!:lm:

"Matte Blue"...though mine's not nearly as purty ;):

Thanks for the nice words, Landman...and it's definitely been a pleasure getting to know you. I like the ivory grips and can certainly attest to how fantastic that matte blue finish is. Wish I could see it in person with the "aged" ivory grips (and maybe I'll get to someday). :)

Oh, that's nice. I had to soak my parked M1991A1(TM) for a month, before she got a deep, even, black, saturated oiliness. And those are real nice ivories. :appld:

...Sounds like it'll be touch and go with his survival to grow up to be able to contribute to the "Tusks for Texans" campaign. :lm: A kid-year in Duncanville for me, dibs?!?

Thanks everybody for the compliments.

The matte finish looks great if you put some CLP on it and put it in a stand and let it sit overnight then wipe it off. After you do this a few times it seems to absorb into the metal and looks much better. Out of the box the finish looks very dry to me.

OD, I didn't realize that is the first year, that makes it even more special. Thanks for the info.

Hill, I have to admit I definitely shoot an Officer better than my New Agent but I really like the New Agent and it's not going anywhere. As far as the elephants go, they are safe from me for awhile because I'm broke...they better look out in a few months though :)

Creighton, thanks again.

Landman,

Do you know of anyone online selling ivory grips who gives away a free ten gallon hat with each purchase? Or is that only available at gas stations in Texas? Texaco stations?

That's what I was told by Colt, that '85 was the first year. ;)

Hill,

I'm afraid I don't know of anyone. I already had the hat. Maybe that company you bought the Paladin outfit from can get you one :D

Nice looking Colt's.
Take it easy on the oil, the stuff could end up being more costly than the gun in a few years. :)

"Who has a ten-gallon hat?"

Technically, I think that's kind of a cowboy Homburg. :p ;)

Obviously not a Texan - too much a Taoist influence.

Hey, I just got back from Taos...and had a great dinner at the Black Jack Saloon in Trinidad, too. Lots of history up there, but I sure didn't see any hats like that (I did see a lot of cowboys, though). Landman, maybe they need to make a trip to San Antonio to see some REAL Texans! In the meantime, I LIKE those ivory grips. Take some more shots!

Creighton, glad to hear you enjoyed your time in the Land of Enchantment ;).
Taos is a great little town. I spend a lot of time in Questa. Lot's of history and
cowboy hats here in NM :).
