Hi ... new to the forum. Am looking for a Gold Cup frame to mate up with a 70 Series Gold cup slide. Perchance, I am I looking in vain? Jon

That is going to be really tough to find. You may find one on a mix and match gun that someone ruined years ago. Or you may come across a parts gun in really rough shape. Either way, it may not fit up very nicely. Might be worth it just to use it on whatever frame you run across first or sell it and put the $ to a whole gun.

By the serial number range you're targeting, I would guess that you have a large rollmark slide. Even if you don't find the frame you want, you could still build a nice GCNM with a new non-Colt frame. Here's pic of 70N22227 that I used to have.

Welcome to the forum.
Finding that frame may be difficult. Good luck.

Another consideration; I have two 70 series Gold Cups that were purchased new; One in the sixteen thousand serial range, large roll marks and the other in the sixty thousand serial range with small roll marks. Not to add insult to injury, but in my opinion, the difference in workmanship of the large roll mark guns is noticibly better than that of the small roll marked guns. I also noticed that my low serial gun has a lightened slide (radius cut extractor channel, exposing the extractor in its tunnel and a similar cut on the opposite side of the slide. The other slide has machining very similar to a standard series 70 gun. Depending on what version you have also makes the quest that much more difficult depending on how accurate you wish the two critical components to match...a seemingly impractical quest to undertake.
