View Full Version : Oversized trigger

I posted this question on the Randall forum with no luck. So here goes.
A mate of mine has a racegun built on a Randall frame. None of the oversized triggers that we have tried will give a good fit. They are always loose and give both vertical and horizontal movement. Does anybody know of a 'very' oversized trigger that we could try? Maybe one designed for a Gold Cup would fit??
Thanks in advance

Mic the trigger slot to see what may fit. With that we'd be able to find something.

Adam;
No Offense here, but Randalls aren't noted for maintaining industry dimensional specifications. I know that's not the answer you're looking for. I rarely have to resort to this, but you can drill and tap the top and/or bottom of the trigger body and insert small spring loaded ball detents that will take nearly all the vertical movement out of the trigger. Castillo Custom in Florida offers this feature if you don't have the tools for such work. If the side play is bothersome, pockets can be machined into the sides of the trigger body to accept fiber pads that are epoxied on and fitted to the frame. The trigger bow track is probably to big also. Most are. I use a die and special punch in a press to raise pads on the bottom of the bow. These raised "bumps" are about .250/.300 long and are then surface ground to track width specs for a close fit. Don't dispare,, your problem has a cure..
Good Luck
Jerry...

Sorry it has taken so long for me to reply, work, work, work (baby on the way need the money).
Wichaka, we measured the slot and the dimensions are; .950"high, and .270" wide.
The biggest trigger we've found is .030" too small both ways. I have a Brownells account so if there is something available form the it would speed things up a bit.
Jerry, the track seems OK, and obviously something that is fitted in the normal way would be preferred. I definatley don't have the gear to do the work you described but if we could get somebody willing to send it to Aus. it would be possible (must keep to less than US$100 per order to get it out of the US without state department hassle).
The Randall frame was not the first choice, but after or Government banned hi-cap mags, and had the buy back (confiscation) to suit, he needed something in a hurry.
Thanks for the help.

Most Gold Cup triggers are about .345"-352", with stock triggers being .240"-.245" wide.
I would call EGW (Evolution Gun Works), give them the dimensions you need and they should be able to make you one at a reasonable cost. They are pretty good folks at helping with fit propblems such as what you are experiencing.
Phone 215-538-1012 email egw@pil.net or check out their web site egw-gun.com
If you need anything from this end, since you're across the pond down there, let me know and I'll do what I can.
