The original Colt 9mm pistols used barrels with a smaller O.D. than the .45s, the so-called "pencil" barrels. I'm looking for a source for barrel bushings to fit that size barrel. Does anyone know if the .38 Super pistols in current production use the same small-diameter barrels, or are the .38 Super barrels the same O.D. as the .45s?
Thanks

Current Super 38's use standard size barrels. (~ .581)

I have Brownells' catalog, and they don't seem to have what I need. Specifically, what I need is a blued barrel bushing for a pre-Series 80 Combat Commander in 9mm. The barrel is smaller in outside diameter than a .45 ACP barrel, so it has to be a bushing specific to a Colt 9mm Commander.

If there's no easier source I'd bet that EGW can make one for you, the hole would start at .495" or smaller. I think that's beyond the range of their selector when ordering custom bushings so you'd likely need to call.
(my two colt commander 9mm barrels measure .495" and .497" at the muzzle. The older one is the larger of the two, whatever that means)

The current Colt SCG in 38 uses a barrel the same outside diameter as the 45acp.
You might be able to get a bushing from Kings, EGW or Numrich.

Umm, my pre-80 9mm commander barrel is .498 OD at the muzzle. If you find someone to build you a bushing for these small barrels, please let us know Hawk.

I found it. Their price isn't too bad, either. Unfortunately, it requires fitting on both the O.D. and I.D. and I'd have preferred a drop-in, even if the fit was less than optimal, but ... beggars can't be choosers.

Hawk, did you find it at Kings, or elsewhere? Will you post some pics of your latest effort when it is done?
