Hello to All,
I would like to solicit opinions on the best (easy/effective) way to remove lead build-up in a .22. Rounds began to keyhole at 5 yards. Regular cleaning with bristle brush and Hoppes removed a hollow tube of lead from the forcing cone? A thorough cleaning is appropriate. The firearm was cleaned prior to use but the problem happened within say 25 rounds of .22LR Winchester bulk.
What could have caused the problem so quickly? Thanks for any help!

Don't shoot copper plated bullets then switch to lead. My suggestion - soak the barrel with Hoppe's #9 Copper Solvent. Let sit for a while. Scrub with some more CS using a nylon brush. Run some J - B bore compund through the barrel. Repeat until all the buildup is removed.

Get a copper scrub pad (chore boy or some other) cut a little off and wrap around a brush and it will remove lead better than any other way :D

Ditto on the Choreboy. Best and quickest that I have used.

Copper mesh Chore Boy, strips the lead, does not scratch the barrel.

Thanks for the input. Sounds like I'll take the easy way with the Chore-Boy. If that doesn't work I'll do old fashion with elbow grease.
