An old traded-in Galco Sum218 has been carrying my Defender for a couple of years. It is well worn, like an old treasured hunting coat. ;) Of course, that is the time that wives start looking for replacements. :( Fortunately, she knows better than to throw either in the washing machine. :scared:
She got me a Bianchi Covert Option. It is a nice looker, though it is not suppose to be seen. Oh well... But, in the few times that I've tried it, the paddle that protects the upper gun and body knocks of the thumb safety! It does it about 1/2 the time. And with the new holster, the same tab makes it difficult to manipulate the safety with the gun in it.
The old Galco has no protector at the upper part of the gun, so I can double check the safety after either attaching the gun to the belt or reholstering.
Should I keep working with it and learn to get it "home" without this happening? I don't like not being able to check it when it is holstered. This wasn't a "gift" exactly. We sell this rig, so that part is no sweat. Is this common to this type/style holster?
