Saw this government model .38 super at the houston gun show today. Slide engraved in silver with Mexican Day of The Dead scene over polished blued flats and rounds. Receiver looked to be matte blue. Grips were pearl with silver Colt medallions.

Besides the pearl grips I liked it. Sorry no pictures. I researched it a little and found out that the .45 ACP is not allowed in Mexico as it is a military cartridge so the .38 super is very popular south of the border. The pearl grips are also, I suppose, all the rage.

If someone finds a picture post it up. Fine looking firearm.

Also the Zappata Government model but this one was way too pimped out with gold plated small parts and hard chrome.

Is this it? It's a Talo product.

Yep, looks like something a south of the border assassin would carry.

Throw some ivory grips on and it does look ok.

I'm a big fan of the .38Super and the Day of the Dead really caught my eye; it's an allocated Colt to our local dealer, hmmm. . . . . :)

Here's the TALO link for some really nice looking Colts;

I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I have some fancy Colts, but I been shying away from those heavily engraved (eye candy) ones, rather have something I could handle.

That is a "day of the dead" scene? I don't see it.

"Dia de Los Muertos" Can you see the skeleton?

Looks a lot better in person than in the picture, too.

Oh is it kind of sideways?

Yup, these guns look better in person than a photo. That is one interesting gun. I still enjoy my Silver Dragon, which is really an XSE with the artwork, or you still get about 2 inch groups at 25 yards.

I like the stocks! What is that on the slide between the cocking serrations and the hammer?

As far as the Silver Dragon. Colt could make money making more grips like that (or contracting them out and selling them). I think it is another depiction of a dragon between the cocking serratins and the hammer. I think a Colt Horsie would have been a lot nicer.

Talo does a lot of work for various manufacurers. Ruger, Colt, Sig, etc. There is or at least was a Sig Silver Dragon.
