I know it's hard to believe, but I managed a 6" group today, five shots at 300 yards, with my Colt.
What a gun !!!

I keep my long range stuff to 100 and 200 yards because its whats available to me and I do around 4" at 100, the same as my 20 gauge with slugs. I love these people who believe the 45 will fall to the ground and just bounce for a short while after 55 yards like I just read on another sight about 3 months ago. I wish more people would shoot long range.

I did that once but it took me about one hundred rounds to get six within a six inch circle and I checked every area of the barn. Ha!

Nice Colt Doggie!
They never made that one in 45acp did they?

Thanks, Dan. This Colt Sauer rifle is one of many guns in my safe that I am just not worthy of owning. The action is like buttered velvet.
I had another one in my younger days in .300 Winchester Magnum, and a bunch of my buddies and I were going to win Alaskan Dall sheep tags and go up there for a horseback hunt, but those plans kind of fell through and I later had to sell that rifle to pay for some of my youthful transgressions. When I found this one ( it's a 30-06) it's at least in 95% condition and I just had to have it to make up for my sins.It is, if I may steal the phrase from my brother Ping Ping, "high art".
I retired the Leupold for a Zeiss 3-9 x 40 since those pics were taken.

Did you happen to pick it up from Collectors Firearms in the last four months?
If so I can vouch for that rifle in terms of one owner and well taken care of. :)

I believe it was December 7 last year, but I did get it at Collector's.
They have one (30-06 Colt Sauer) there now with a Redfield scope on it, maybe that is the one you are thinking about.

Very cool Colt rifle DD, were you using handloads or factory ammunition when you shot your 300 yard group.
