View Full Version : Houston gunsmiths that bobtail 1911s?

Im interested in getting my STI bobtailed but am having a hard time locating a gunsmitht hat is experienced or that will even do the job for me. Any help is appreciated.

there was a good smith. ed vandenberg. his sites down now.
you might well do a search for him in the yellow pages and see if you can find his number.

Try Parkhill Gunworks; they're over off 610 North Loop, between
US 59 & I-45North. They're at 606 Reid st. & their # 713-861-3234.
I think that they specialize in 1911's & have been there for a pretty
good while.
Let us know what you find out, as I'm also interested in having my
1911's bobtailed also.

I'm looking for a gunsmith too so I thought I'd ask if anyone personally knows an excellent gunsmith in the Clear Lake to Galveston area they can recommend ?

As Boomer suggested, Ed VandenBerg at VandenBerg Custom. He is in the Webster area on Hwy. 3.

but his websites down.. but it wasnt much of a site, just his contact info and a couple pics.
he was recommended by Carters Country in Spring texas. you can also call the nearest (any) carters country and see who they recommend.
also call Collectors Firearms in houston.. they are the mecca for 1911's in houston (you wouldnt belive some of the guns in general they have) and see if they can recommend someone as well.
