Trigger job lightens trigger pull and makes it break more "crisp". Usually polishing and trueing the hammer and sear to each other and sometimes changing the "sear angle" Bringing it to less of a positive angle, and polishing any other moving parts and thier contact points to reduce friction.

on a 1911:
1) cut the hammer hook down in height to about .020"
2) cut the sear face and true it to match the angles as set by the location of the pins in the frame of the gun.
3) install lighter hammer spring (usually)
4) adjust leaf spring weights

I have found #3 to be unnecessary. I look to get my pistols to about 4-1/2 to 4-3/4 pounds, and that does not require a lighter main spring.

It's all outlined in "Poor Man's Trigger Job", found in our Tech Issues section. Step-by-step with a list of materials & supplies.

I did my own trigger job on mine , Instead of replacing the hammer spring , I cut it by about 1.5 turn. I also adjusted the leafspring and ground the hammer and sear hooks .
