first i was sold the wrong BTS, miles away from my home. i journeyed back and picked up one, but it wasnt stainless. its black, but i'm cool with that.

i get the part home and knowing how much time it took to do my commander, i wasnt in a hurry, in fact it took me hours to determine.. it just wouldnt work or so i thought. in fact i thought i had filed too much off of it, and resided myself to order another one in the future.

fast forward a few days...
so i came home early today sick from work. and i was kinda bored. so i sat down at my work bench, and started to try and get it to work.

i found that if i put a little pressure pulling up on the BTS (up towards the hammer) it worked.. it locked it just fine. full grip pull the trigger, hammer drops, perfect, next cock of the hammer, not holding the grip safety hammer would fall.. not perfect. repeat putting pressure on it, and it'd work.

so i filed a bit more off the tangs that enter the MSH, that helped a bit.
and i slid the thumb safety in, and it'd hang like above.
i took a small piece of sand paper that went around the circumference of my small punch, poked it into the hole the thumb safety holds it between the tangs of the frame, and twirled it a bit. mounted it back in the gun, put the gun back together... and low and behold.. it works!

first i dont know if i should be proud i sorted it out, or disappointed i couldnt do it right to begin with lol.
i do know i envy anyone who's had no trouble installing these little things into their colts.

so seriously, am i an idiot? does anyone here live in the houston area who does this stuff themselves like to meet up at a local range, and check my work out? it passes the safety tests, and it does indeed block the trigger perfectly.. if so let me know:D

heres the pics... cheers to all the info gleened in this smithing forum, i hope this might help someone in the future who's been stumped by my similar problems. i'm half tempted to email wilson and let them know their little instruction leaflet hasnt worked for me in the strictest sense.
