Selecting a GunSmith

I am new to pistols and would like to locate a reputable and experienced gunsmith in the Tampa Bay Florida area (west central Florida). Can you suggest someone in my area, AND provide some pointers in determining whether a guy (or gal) knows what they're doing?

I have a S&W41 (both barrels) and a Kimber Gold Match II on order and I like to have my support team in place BEFORE I need them. Thanks.

I'd look for recommendations in the local competition groups. Whether or not someone gunsmiths for competitors they tend to get a reputation one way or another. Look for folks posting here, too. SOme folks have their location public so you might find at least a reference.

I have 2 places you might check, I've not had any experience with either, just names I've been told about. the first is:G S Custom Guns, Gary Skida, in Pinellas Park/Largo @ 727-541-2200. The other, I was given his name and all I know is he shoots at the Wyoming Antelope Club in Clearwater. His name is Dave Tadder @ 727-525-8916. Also Gunsmith Paul Liebenberg is opperating somewhere here in Fl. A google search will turn him up or search the American pistolsmith guild web site for help. Keep us advised as to what you find out.
