i bought the 1911 i talked about in the earlier post for $400.
it is a colt frame with serial number 336XXX and it is in great condition, it has a remington rand slide (3rd gen) in bad condition on top.

should i try to find a matching slide for the colt, or should i send it to clarks custom guns and have the entire thing gone through, accuracy job done, reliablity job done and hard chromed.

just looking for some outside opinion from a knowledgable source such as this forum.

BTW. i have been searching this forum for hours and found GREAT info and a new favorite site to frequent.

Sounds like a shooter to me..... but ultimately the owner is the only one that has to be happy with your decision.

If you are going to hard chrome it, sounds like you are going the non-orignal route. Nothing wrong with that.

I have a couple Colt slides that are correct for your serial number. Email me, mark.hitchcock@cnh.com if interested. Thanks
