I bought a 45 from a guy at work. I got a good deal so wasn't really thinking about the kind or age of the gun I figured for the price it could be just about anything. I have shot it and it does shoot nice ( before I knew the age). The gun appears to be in great condition just unsure of how much is original or not. I'm not a collector so this is pretty new to me. Here are a few pictures.
Thank you.

I am not an Internet Expert in the field but until one comes along...

Looks like a 1911 slide and receiver (the Expert will say if they are correct to each other) with what I call military match sights and trigger. 1911A1 arched mainspring housing, flat sided hammer, and plastic grips, parkerized finish.

What I cannot tell by looking at a picture is whether the gun has been truly accurized to go along with its sights and trigger. Is the barrel fitted up tightly at the bushing and breech? Are there any markings on the barrel or bushing? Is the slide tight on the frame? I see no arsenal rework or match conditioning stamp marks.

Yes, it appears to be an old, refinished mix-master, but no way to really tell without some close-ups of the barrel, barrel bushing; it appears it perhaps has a stainless barrel and bushing (bright, shiny)? Are there holes in the bottom of the mainspring housing, or other evidence that there used to be a lanyard loop? The thumb safety is a later part, which may have been required when the hammer and other internals were changed?

Yes the bushing is shiney seems to be aluminium and the barrel could be stainless will have to stick a magnet to it. It does not have a hole for a lanyard in the mainspring housing. And other than the serial number and the other nromal markings there is no extra stamps initials or anything.

Barrel bushings are hard wear parts not made out of aluminum. Probably stainless.

Stainless alloys used in gun parts are magnetic, that won't tell you anything.

Definately a mixture of WWI and WWII parts and components.... with a little NM mixed in. The finish is certainly not original.... but probably a terrific shooter that will create some stares and comments.

It does shoot nice anything I should watch out for if I do continue shooting it, or would it be best for me to get a new one and put this one away?

Shoot it.... since it is just a mixture of parts, you should be able to replace anything on it fairly easily, and your'e not in jepordy of lessening any historical value. Chances are you won't hurt it as long as your'e not using any hot loads.
