I have a new Colt Commander XSE. I ordered Alumigrip tactical stocks. They to have an ambi cut and a tang cut. That is good. But the cut is not big enough in either the horizontal or vertical dimensions. What is the best way to enlarge the cut on the aluminum grip that won’t be a butcher job? I have a Dremel tool kit and minimal smithing skills. The up side is that if I goof up I will only butcher some stocks instead of the pistol. Thanks.

where did you get them from? i'd be interested in seeing the replys on this topic myself.
If the grips are not made properly, I would contact Alumagrips and have the grips returned to them for repair.

I contacted Chris Lynch, owner of Alumagrips. He was polite, responsive, and helpful. I am sending him the Colt stock and the Alumagrips stock, and Chris will machine it for me to fit properly.
Super service. They have a customer for life in me.

If you or someone you know has a router table (for woodworking) carbide tipped router bits will machine aluminum fairly well if you take it slow.

It's not like the appearance of dremel work would show, unless you think it's possible that you might go all the way through the grip, which is hard for me to imagine.
+1 on wood router bits in aluminum. Sometimes they clog up less than mill cutters when used in the mill.
