I have been a long time lurker, recent poster on these forums. Mainly because I love 1911's - not to mention I think it is somewhat of a sickness.
I had originally decided to buy a Ed Brown, but over time and others opinions, was swayed a little more towards the Baer camp.

So FF - went a ways to a shop that carries higher end stuff to look at a Baer, and they had sold the last one. Needless to say, I was dismayed as I was hoping to purchase one.

So I start looking around and spot some Browns in the display case. Well, needless to say, once I put my mitts on one, that was it.

Since I have two full size 1911's, I was leaning towards something smaller for CCW. Then I spotted it, a Kobra carry. Once he handed it to me, that was it. My wife who likes to shoot 40S&W even commented how nice it felt in the hand.

Anyways before I bore you all to death, here are some pics. I already put 300 rounds through it without a single problem. I will still probably get a Baer down the road.................

Once you owned the best, no need to own the rest! Congrats on your new Kobra Carry!

Nice find! Congrats.
Pretty nice looking 1911, nice lines. It almost looks like a shootable work of art.

I purchased a used KC, it is by far the best 1911 I have. Put on vz grips the gun shoots and looks fantastic. I have a TRS a Wilson and a Colt. The KC gets the most use. Enjoy the gun you will not regret the purchase.

I originally liked EB overall most. After reading lots of posts, there was the occasional complaint with EB customer service.
I figured at this price point, it was probably the exception rather than the rule.
Everyone says this brand is better than that brand, etc. To be honest, I would love to have a 1911 by all the makers - EB, Baer, Wilson, Nighthawk - they all make awesome pistols, and variety is the spice of life...
Just don't have that kind of coin.
Pick one you like and go for it - each manufacturer has their strengths and weaknesses IMO.

Nice pickup! Bet you it shoots just as good as it looks.

The Kobra Carry feels solid in your hand, no rattles. Everything is tight. Slide racks like its on "ball bearings".
Trigger is WAY better than my SA TRP - breaks crisp and clean, which makes shooting accurately that much easier.
While they are non-adjustable combat sights, the pistol is more accurate than I am.
I was suprised as to how comfortable the beveled grip housing felt. From pictures, it looks awkward, but it feels just fine.
My friend stopped by today. He could not get over how it was the nicest 1911 he has ever held - he wants to go to the range with me this weekend - he said he would even supply the ammo!

Absolutely gorgeous gun! Nice pics, too.
I would love to have a 1911 by all the makers
Now, you've planted a seed in my mind! I just need some water.

Water - grow little seedling into a big oak tree!

A friend has a LB PII. It is a awesome pistol - and I can say that a LB is in my future.......what's worse is, I may be thinning the collection - getting rid of some of the dust collectors to get something else that will get used.

The thing that really put me over the edge was seeing the difference in quality (fit/finish) of a EB/LB compared to your assembly line 1911.
My friend made an analogy - its like comparing a Timex to a Rolex. Both keep time, but one is hand made and will hold its value.

I can see how this can be contagious - I may have to seek 1911 help

Guns, cars and other products are alike in that there are no secrets to making an average one, an acceptable one, a good one, a great one or an absolutely outstanding one. Each company knows the market they are aiming for and what price point they need to be around. A few companies have the reputation for excellent 1911's and their customers seem to be the happier people here on the forum.
I think you'll be one of the happy ones.

Joni - I know you have more than one Baer from previous posts - just out of curiosity, which one do you like the best? They make so many different models.....

BTW, thanks everyone for the kind words - I have noticed this forum seems to be a little closer family than some other ones I frequent. :)

My first LB was a 1.5" PII and it's still my favorite. It's a little different from most other PII's but that was done to suit me and no other reason.
