I did it. Can't believe I'm going to pay over $2000.00 for a gun. Been wanting to do it for years. I just had a Kimber SIS RL on order but cancelled it. Figured if I'm going to spend 1300.00 for that I might as well get the one I really want. Also after reading some of the Kimber forums here, I got a bit of a sour taste in my mouth about Kimber. Do you think I made the right choice? Can't wait to get the Brown!
P.S. Hello to all. This being my first post, I thought I might as well say hi. Love the sight.

Welcome to the site. I think you absolutely made the right choice in picking the Brown over the Kimber. I'm sure you're going to love it. Is the Brown on order? If so, how long do you anticipate waiting?

Thank you for your welcome. The Brown is on order. I ordered it on Thursday. The quote had an estimated ship date of 9/24/2008 but Karri said it may not take that long. I'm getting a Special Forces and having the Tru-Ivory grips put on. They said they had rail versions available but I didn't want the rail. I see that some others have had the slide markings omitted and I might like to do that. I will have to call on Monday. It is not a big deal if they can't.

Ditto on all the other's replies!! I went from a Kimber Custom TLE II to a full size EB Special Forces and haven't regretted the cost to upgrade one iota. The EB Sf is a joy to shoot and own. Congratulations!

If you hadn't had the other guns your appreciation of the EB, LB and other fine 1911's might not be what it is.

Congrats! I also have an SF on order that should be coming in early August. I decided to go with the blank slide and had Brown install his chain link maxi-well on it. I might get the chain link lanyard MSH after getting the gun in. Saw a brand new Executive Carry Bobtail yesterday at my local range that was coated in Gen III and it looked sick! Got me really excited and happy that I went with a Brown!

Ryder,
I believe you will like the EB very much. My EB SF (bald) just arrived last Thursday. EB told me to expect 90 days. It arrived in 46. Fit and finish are incredible. I especially liked the "sleekness" of it. It felt much slimmer than my MC Operator, which I love. Just an absolute joy to shoot. Looked at EB's and read these posts for over a year. Bought and sold other guns ---I couldn't be satisfied. Once I pulled the SF out, I knew that was it. Only put about 100 through her so far, but I'm very impressed.

Thanks for all your replies. I did call today to have the slide markings ommitted. Was no problem at all. I currently have a Colt 1991 A1 that I've messed around with a little bit and a Colt Defender. My Defender has been good to me. But I got to say these past few months I've been looking at the Wilson's, Les Baer's, Nighthawks and Brown's. I even talked to a local smith about building one and he said I would be just paying for the name. I hope not. I was really having a hard time deciding which one to get. Years ago I bought parts from Brown for the 1991 A1 and said some day I would buy one. Well that day has finally come. And now this evening I was reading about the D&L Sports guns. Man, so many choices. I think I'll be happy with mine.

A lot of guys say that however they don't say much when you state that EB makes all the parts. I have 5 Kimbers and 1 EB (SF). I am selling one of the Kimbers and a Delta Elite to get a EB CBOB SF commander. The final straw with me was it takes 500 rounds to tune in a Kimber. And everytime I broke em down for a good cleaning I noticed more wear. Slide to Frame etc....And the EB has now about 1500 rounds through it and there are no wear marks. NONE. That is a fit done worth paying for. Not purchasing a 1300 dollar gun that fits itself by wearing tollerances down. And I own a 1911 that not one guy can improve on. (my opinion)
Money very well spent.

It's here. I finally received my very own high end 1911. Beautiful gun. Very impressed with the quality of workmanship. Every thing is finished right. Haven't shot it yet. I did clean and lube it though. Hope to try it out tomorrow. Very nice trigger pull. Never felt one that good before.
side note: any one with new EB 8 rd mags, please check my EB mag thread. Thanks

Outstanding :eb: I really like mine. It has a very nice and tough GenIII covering. And from what I understand, not really needing the 500 round :scared: "break-in". I'll check out your other thread. :eb:

Congrats, and excellent choice. Just wait, after you have shot it, you will like it even more.
Personally, I am tired of all the "tactical garbage" all the gun makers are pushing - I think Browns have stayed close to the original 1911 design. Smooth, clean lines and very functional.

Congratulations...you'll love it...and from my experience if, when, you need to work with EB customer service you'll also be very satisfied with their service. Here's to good shooting.
