Since I live in CA, I have to transport (don't even get me started on my CCW chances) my firearms unloaded in a locked container. Should the Pelican Cases that are specifically designed for the SW 1911 fit a Wilson? I was thinking everything should be the same except for the Beavertail grip. That is an option or an even smaller pelican case that I can fit inside the Wilson Range Bag that will fit my pistol would be lighter and still allow for great protection. I would also like a recommendation for a quick access safe (in the vein of gunvault) although I'm looking for something very compact and slim. Maybe small enough to use to transport a pistol (have to remember these great CA laws). thanks.

PS: Since this is the etc goodies section, any other goodies I should pickup for my hot off the presses Wilson?

What about one of those Laptop safes that you gan get at an office supply store. You might be able to bolt it down in your trunk. Just my .02 cents

Before I escaped from California, I secured the pistol in my range bag with a small Sesame -style combo lock.

The law doesn't require the case to be hard-wall; I was more interested in complying with the law than securing the firearm.

If the BG wants your firearm, he'll walk off with your Pelican case (with firearm inside) and open the case at his convenience.
