View Full Version : Slickside Sistema?

I was digging through the safe recently and found a Sistema I had bought a while back. The metal is in great shape (believe an obvious refinish) and the left side has the standard D.G.F.M., etc. markings. The right side is unmarked except for the ser. number (bbl, slide and frame numbers match.) It does not appear to be scrubbed. Is this a commercial gun? My previous Sistemas had the Argy crest, caliber, etc. markings on the right side of the slide. Would appreciate any info.

Strela: if you provide the serial number, or at least the first two or three digits of the serial number we might be able to provide some insight in regard to the possibility of scrubbed marks, or that the right side of the slide was never marked. Pictures would also be useful.

Does the right side of your slide look like this?
This one is from 1965 as noted by the serial # 111214

From what I have read the sistema's without R side marking were made for commercial use.

Thanks Jim.
Mine looks exactly like yours, other than serial number. My camera is on the fritz or I would post a pic. Did you refinish yours? My finish also looks like yours.

It has been parked, but that is the way I purchased it. I only have 1 sistema that has original finish.
The one below is my shooter, I replaced everything inside, every pin, sping, part and installed a matched Kart Barrel and bushing and had adj. sights installed. Then I had "shootiniron" refinish the outside in a two-tone OD Green & Black. I really like how it turned out.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v157/mjfrog1/Sistema3Right.jpg

That's a nice looking shooter. I used to have a Sistema that was customized in a similar manner, although I chose high profile fixed sights. Mine was matte black with beavertail and aftermarket stocks. I kept the original trigger and barrel because it was a great shooter, very accurate. I never should have traded it off, but at least I traded it on a 1918 vintage Colt GI 1911!

I have a slick-sided Sistema too, sn 69673. Very poor refinish when I got it, but the internals were like new.
