I inherited two Ithaca 1911's from my grandfather that he had in WWII. I would like to shoot one, but would like some advice. One is a parkerized 1945 serial number 2106xxx and the other was nickel plated by my grandfather and it is a 1943 serial number 867xxx. I'm assuming that the nickel plated one has little value as a collector piece, both are in immaculate condidtion 95%+. How would either perform as a shooter? What kind of ammo would be best for an old pistol? Would the nickel plating affect the performance? If you guys could help me out with any of this i'd appreciate it.

i would shoot/carry the nickel plated gun. i shoot low powder stuff in mine. seems to work fine. sorry to hear about your grandfather. i would rather have mine back instead of a bucket full of guns.

Use Ball ammo (Avoid HP's) :geek:
