i just recently aquired a rather nice Colt 1911a1 that falls in the 1943 date range. After I bought it I got quite the scare that i bought something bad. I was cleaning it and was cleaning the left side of the gun and noticed that the frame did not have the relief cut right behind the trigger. I immediately thought i got duped into buying a 1911 WWI rework. I immediately then flipped it over to check the serial number to be sure I didnt misread it and low-and-behold...it had the relief cut on that side. So....it appears I have a 1911a1 with split personality here...the left side of the frame has no relief cut and the right side does... all the other inspectors marks and arsenal stamps are present as they should and the gun appears to be in it's original parkerized finish and not reworked. Does this little quirk of a "friday at quitting time" frame mistake add any value to this otherwise immaculate gun?? Any input would be greatly appreciated ..and thanks in advance

+1 on pictures. The configuration you describe has been seen before, not often, but noted on a couple of occasions.

Haven't we heard about such a pistol before? I think we have, but I am not sure. Anyone else?

By all means post some pictures.

I posted an auction link for a similar pistol several months ago.
