Hi
Welcome !!!
Where in the world are you shopping? Prices are a bit different in different parts of the world.
Bob
Thank you Bob.
I am going to the big reno gun show in august, will be there to see what i can find.
I own M1s M1 carbines and 1903s and know my way around them.
But i am new to us issue 1911s
Is there a good book out there that would help me?
Thank you.

Hi
Clawson is "the guy" who wrote the 1911 books. He did it back a few years, so prices aren't in there at all.
Are you in the US?
Bob
Thanks Bob.
On the book info.
Yes on the US , nevada.
No other help ?
OK LATER.
For $2,000 you should be able to find a parkerized mid war (1943 GHD with numbered slide and milled trigger, etc) 1911a1 with original finish and parts.
At a big gun show or on an internet auction you may have to pay a little more.
Good luck and take your time. There are a lot of bad ones (at the same high price) out there you will have to sort through to find a good one.

I would think that $2K would put you in the 95% neighborhood on a correct original A1 example.

Hi
Difficult to believe, but I don't spend 100% of my time posting here. :D :D
The question now becomes weather you go after a good condition WWII pistol, or pick up a "somewhat challenged" WWI pistol. Obviously the WWII will be in a lot better shape than the WWI at your price level.
Bob
Thanks guys for the info.
I will be looking for a nice WW11 1911 to go with my WW11 M1s and M1 carbines.
