My Springfield GI 1911A1 has an issue with one of the grip screw bushings. The threads where the busing screws into the frame are stripped. This was like it when I got the pistol (used). I've tried a little threadlocker but it didn't do much. Does anyone know what size thread these are? I'm thinking if I chase it with a tap, get a new bushing, and use threadlocker it might hold. Any thoughts are appreciated.
Thanks,
Ken

Brownells sells slightly oversize bushings----now for the bad news--they also sell the tap,but the price is high.
Try this link:

Oh jeez a $60 repair. Not what I was hoping for. Anyone try heavy epoxy of some sort in this application?

That's essentially what red LocTite is. Normally I prefer to use blue, but for this application I think red is the one that might offer some hope of succeeding.

I had the same issue with my SA Loaded among other issues and SA can do the work at no charge or you can get the oversized grip bushings kits.

I used Brownell's Acraglas Gel epoxy.

It held with a mild grip screw insertion. I was afraid to go too tight.......

Let SA fix it. I had one spin and I got the oversized tap and bushing. Its a royal pain to do perfectly.... and I'm a machinist.
