I stopped by a small gun store this morning to see if they had anything new since my last visit. The widow of a recently deceased WWII veteran had just brought in some of his guns to sell on consignment. There were several Winchester shotguns, some old revolvers, and a couple of old 1911's. One was a Remington Rand in pretty rough condition which I passed on. The other was a late serial number 1911A1 manufactured in 1945. It was one of the last 1911's produced in 1945. The last Colt produced in 1945 was #2,380,013....this one was #2,297,XXX. and it was in excellent condition. It appears to be all original with all the right parts and marking in about 80% condition. The interior parts are in excellent condition with no cracks or undue peening of any kind. It has the GHD inspectors stamp, the original Colt plastic grips, and all the other parts to make it a nice collector's piece. The old veteran kept it in very nice condition. It was well-oiled with no rust or pitting at all, and it was in a very nice flap hoster that was made in 1944. Any information from the experts is heartedly welcomed. If something doesn't look right, let me know. If you see something I missed, please let me know. If you think I have mis-identified it, please let me know. I am no expert by any means.

I like the semi-rare Gothic serial number, not seen that often.

The holster was manufactured by Boyt in 1944.
If true (The holster is worth $150.00 Plus) there is a Mfgr. in South Texas that makes Repros with Company name (Boyt) and others and date of 1944 STAMPED ON repros ... (If your holster is real McCoy ITS THE BEST LOOKING ONE I have SEEN out of dozens & dozens ) and Greatly Improves the value of your Rig (Find several USGI period pistol belts and Mag pouches and the value will skyrocket for that Holster)

I have a '42 MILWAUKEE SADDLERY CO. that's in the same condition, I know it's not a knock-off, I don't doubt his could be original.
