Been hanging in the background reading, but you got me interested. Back in the late 1950s (I was still a teenager) I bought a Colt 1911a1 45acp stamped United States Property. Serial No 1,631,xxx which looks to be 1944 vintage from what I can find out.
I bought it from a guy who have brought it home from the big WWII war for the sum of (I will never forget this) "a dollar a caliber", $45.00. I may have shot it years ago but if so it was very few rounds as I was not into pistols at the time. Finish shows some holster wear but at least 90% intact. I suspect everything is original but how would I tell?
Anyway the question is; What would this thing be worth if anything? Not that I ever intend to turn loose of it.

Not too sure about the quality but it the best I can do with my camera.
