I am trying to restore a 1918 M1911 GI pistol. I am looking for 2 parts a rear sight and the thumb safety. Anyone know a reliable source? Also I am looking for someone who can skillfully duplicate the proper finish to the pistol. Again, any reccomendations? THANKS Paul

I don't know about the rear sight, but I was looking for a thumb safety to make my Springfield GI more authentic. If you give EGW (http://www.egw-guns.com/) a call they will be able to help you with the thumb safety.

For a real match to the original finish, I'd suggest Doug Turnbull, or maybe Bill Adair.
For the small parts, you should post an ad stating what you're looking for in the Flea Market under "Wanted (No guns)". I assume you are looking for genuine, original parts, not reproductions. If so, EGW won't be of help because they don't deal in antique parts, they make new parts.
