Any official word from Colt on why they're not doing any hi-capacity variants of their pistols?

Thank you,

Welcome to the forum. Though not official I can speculate why.
For the majority of folks into the Government Model the ergonomics of the grip play a big part in the attraction.
I have a Springfield high cap and though I really like the pistol it is not even close in comfort to a Government Model. Since Colt is still milling their receiver with milling machines (for now any way) it would require a lot of retooling and for a pistol that may not have much interest.
I like the high cap receiver but I prefer a standard one.
I believe Colt marketed some through Colt Canada but that was something I heard floating around.

When Colt still had a USPSA/IPSC shooting team, some hi-cap pistols were built with Colt slides on TRI/STI/SVI modular high-cap frames, but they were never production items.

Small demand, big cost to develop and produce.
