Can anyone help identify the components in this 1911 A1. Is the slide from a Colt GI or from a commercial gun? Any way of telling the date of manufacture? Can the frame be identified by the stamp (WPC?) above the magazine release or by the No. 43843 on the right side? The barrel has "N" and "P" stamped on the link, any clues.
Thanks for any and all input.

Hi
The serial number would place the frame in the pre WWI era. The slide is from well after WWI. The slide stop and trigger are both add on parts from the 1950's or 1960's.

The GI slide looks to be pre-WWII. Check under the firing pin stop to see if it is serial numbered. If so, to age it will be easy.
WGP ... is Walter G Penfield, and serial number puts it in the 1913 production range.....additionally shipped to the US Navy I believe. I of 100 shipped to the USS New York !!!!!!

Thanks for your replies. I was afraid the frame was probably not USGI because of the lack of the "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" mark. But now I'm understanding that this frame with that serial number and WGP stamp is a Colt USGI, even without the "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" mark?

It has been removed. A common practice after being liberated from the government in the bottom of a duffel bag..... ;)

Slide is USGI replacement from 1938 - 43.

Hi
At a gun show I would expect to see somebody asking about $700 for the pistol. I suspect that in order to sell it might have to be closer to $500. A lot depends on the specific buyer.
