Hello to all. I am new to this forum and forums in general, so bear with me please. I just picked up a brand new Springfield TRP in the stainless steel and it feels a little gritty in the slide/frame action. I have another TRP in the black armory kote that is super smooth, I didn't know if this is normal for stainless or not. Also, I am going to have the slide refinished in a black color and would like any suggestion any of you might have on the best finish out their for hardness and smoothness. Springfield custom told me that Armory Kote would not hold to stainless, but that they could Black T Kote it. Need help because whatever I do I want it to function and look good at the same time. Eventually I will be wearing it in a duty holster. Thanks for your help.

It may just be a little roughness that will smooth out during break in. Or you can take some oiled 1000-1200 grit wet-dry paper over a popsicle stick and polish the slide rails.

I've never tried the Black T Kote or anything along the same lines, so I can't help there, but if you're gonna have this in and out of a holter a lot, you are going to get some wear of the finish regardless, so I personally would consider leaving the stainless finish as it is. Just a thought.
